Andreas Bröker graduated from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) in 1991 with a degree in industrial engineering (specializing in corporate planning), including the supplementary subject of company pedagogy. He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Vocational Education until 1994 as part of a research project on qualification process monitoring in the new federal states. At the same time, he completed a second degree in vocational education (M.A. 1994). In 1995, he completed his doctorate (Dr. phil.) in labour sciences and vocational education at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with the topic "The reorganization of continuing vocational training in the regional transformation process in the new federal states".
In 1996, Andreas Bröker began his professional career in senior social management; his positions include:
- Management of the non-profit employment and qualification company in Pforzheim (incl. youth workshop, SGB VIII), combined with the assignment for municipal employment promotion (BSHG; AFG or SGB II / SGB III),
- Management of the internationally active and regionally socially committed family holding company (GmbH) of a medium-sized, owner-managed company in Karlsruhe,
- Facility management (e. V.) integration assistance (SGB IX, XII): Workshop + residential homes for people with disabilities
- Head of department in the Baden state welfare association: state-wide care rate negotiations SGB V; supra-regional economic and construction consulting SGB XI and SGB IX
- Regional management of a social enterprise (e. V.) with inpatient, day-care and outpatient services for the elderly (SGB V; SGB XI) as well as rescue services including paramedic training
- Management of ESF and BMAS model project "KIZ+ Kinder im Zentrum" for the Pforzheim / Enzkreis region at Pforzheim NPO
- Establishment of an office for legal support for adults from Pforzheim / Enzkreis / Calw
Andreas Bröker has also been a lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences since 2002; in 2007 he completed his habilitation at this faculty with the topic "Continuing vocational training as a qualification and re-integration strategy, especially for problem groups in the labor market". Since then, he has worked here part-time as a private lecturer with a teaching license for continuing vocational training. He is particularly interested in combining theory and practice. He therefore conducts excursions to social enterprises, offers practice-related topics for BA and MA theses and provides specialist advice and scientific evaluations in the social economy, the results of which he makes known to a wider specialist public through publications.
