What exactly is engineering education?

Degree program for the higher teaching profession at vocational schools (construction technology, electrical engineering, metal technology)

The engineering education degree combines technical expertise with pedagogical know-how - and thus opens up a very special career perspective. It is a teacher training course that specifically prepares students to work as teachers at vocational schools, but at the same time goes far beyond the traditional teaching profession.

The focus is on two central areas: On the one hand, students acquire in-depth knowledge in a technical subject area such as electrical engineering, metal technology or construction technology. Secondly, they learn how to impart this knowledge in a didactically meaningful way. Pedagogy, psychology and technical didactics are therefore integral parts of the course and prepare students to actively shape learning processes and support people in their professional development.

The special thing about engineering education is the close integration of theory and practice. In addition to the technical and educational content, students gain practical experience at an early stage, for example through school internships. This creates a holistic understanding of how technical content can be conveyed in an understandable and practical way.

As a teacher training course, engineering education primarily qualifies students for teaching at vocational schools. At the same time, however, it also opens up a wide range of alternative career paths - for example in company training and further education, in personnel development or in the private sector.

Engineering education is therefore the ideal choice for anyone who wants to combine their enthusiasm for technology with working with people and actively passing on knowledge.
