Successful participation of vocational education in the 35th Badische Meile
Vanessa Greber represented the department on the course and ran through Karlsruhe in the new KIT official shirt.
The course was characterized by a consistently positive atmosphere, pleasant weather conditions and a large turnout from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) environment. This was particularly evident in the large number of participants wearing the characteristic KIT green shirts.
A special highlight was the award given to KIT for the most registrations. This result not only underlines the sporting motivation, but also the strong cohesion within the KIT community.
Participation in the Baden Mile was therefore not only a sporting event, but also an expression of community and identification with KIT.
Background to the Baden Mile
The Baden Mile goes back to a historical measure of length and, at 8.88889 kilometers, is considered the longest country mile in Germany. It has its origins in the time of Margrave Carl Friedrich, who once established the distance as a measure.
The first run under the name "Badische Meile" took place in 1990 to mark the 275th anniversary of the city of Karlsruhe. Originally intended as a fun run, the course has developed over the years into an integral part of the regional running culture and is now one of the first major fun runs of the year in the region.
