Project description:
The IBP at KIT has set itself the goal of closing the gap in qualification programs between vocational and academic training. To this end, a mentoring program is being developed and implemented in cooperation with industry and teaching partners, with the help of which prospective students and students are to be introduced to a degree at KIT.
The aim is to develop and implement a mentoring program, including corresponding credit transfer procedures, which will make the acquisition of an academic degree and the associated know-how accessible to prospective and current students in a way that is as barrier-free as possible in terms of lifelong learning.
Target groups:
Professionally qualified persons with or without a university entrance qualification
People with family responsibilities
Part-time students
People returning to work
Experienced career drop-outs
Certified training and further education teachers
Vocational teachers for training and further education (IHK)
Approach:
The mentoring program is to be developed as a continuous, comprehensive and individual educational guidance and focuses on the following phases of the study process:
In the initial phase, a differentiated diagnosis of both the certified and the non-formally or informally acquired performance of the prospective students is carried out through a web-based portfolio analysis and through personal counseling sessions in which competencies are diagnosed and crediting procedures (building on existing ANKOM results) are carried out.
In the study phase, mentoring is intended to provide assistance in choosing a course of study and advice on the student's work, life and family situation.
In the transfer phase, the main focus is on supporting the re-entry into the profession or professional reorientation after graduation. This can be achieved by intensifying and expanding network contacts with graduates and non-university cooperation partners (alumni network).
Transition measures:
Development of information and advice concepts based on target group-specific materials
Development of course-related credit transfer and admission procedures for professionally qualified students
Development of bridging courses or referral to other counseling and educational institutions at KIT

Pedagogy / Vocational Pedagogy B.A. and M.A. (KIT)
